Principal’s Corner

If you are looking for a summer refresher in a particular subject for your student, or you are looking for a preview of the coming school year, Acellus may be the answer.

Acellus is a computer-based learning system of online education.  Acellus uses “Intelligent Interaction” technology that enables it to cater educational content to the individual skill set of each student through customized, personal instruction.  The program is used by over a million students in the U.S. and around the world. Acellus has online courses for any subject at any grade level and it is very affordable.

For $35, you can purchase a student license for Acellus, which would allow your student access to any courses offered.  The student can use any personal device to access the course, and spend as much or as little time on it as you decide over the summer.  The license is good for a year, so access could be continued through the school year.    Each course is taught through short video lessons with experienced teachers, followed by interactive practice problems.  Through this interactive approach, students can either progress or be assigned to a re-teaching lesson.  The course includes assessments and a grade report can be obtained.

Mrs. Grellner and Mrs. Horner are available by phone or Fast Direct to answer any questions, help you decide on the grade level, and course(s) you may wish to choose and arrange for your student license.  Please contact one of them if you are interested.

Jump Rope for Heart

Thanks to everyone who participated in this year’s Jump Rope for Heart! This year St. Ambrose raised almost $6000. Cheryl Rybak from the American Heart Association wrote, “I wanted to share with you my deepest appreciation for your PE teacher, Mr. Dibb.  He went above and beyond to share the mission of the American Heart Association by participating in Jump Rope for Heart with your students.” Thanks to Mr. Dibb for organizing this event!

Giving is in the Bag

St. Ambrose School has been selected as the FIRST recipient of the Schnucks – Bag 4 My Cause program!

How does the program work?
During the month of May, for each Giving reusable bag sold at the Schnucks store located at 5055 Arsenal St., St. Louis MO, St. Ambrose Catholic School will receive $1!

Be sure to let your friends and family know about this great fundraising opportunity.

Also be sure to pick up the bag that says “Giving is in the bag” to support St. Ambrose. There is a second set of bags that says “Every bag feeds a neighbor.” The proceeds from these bags will help area food banks.

Congratulations to our second graders who received their First Holy Communion on April 29th and our eighth graders who received the gifts of the Holy Spirit through the Sacrament of Confirmation on May 14th at the New Cathedral!

Field Trips

St. Ambrose 4th grade students enjoyed a field trip to the Challenger Learning Center. They planned and executed a mission to Mars using teamwork and critical thinking skills.

The 2nd grade class attended a zoo workshop and explored the zoo on a scavenger hunt.

Service Club

One of the Service Club’s projects at their meeting last Friday was to make tissue flowers for the mothers of St. Ambrose parish. After the 9 AM Mass on Sunday, the students passed out the flowers to the moms as they left church. Another project they had been working on was to recognize Charlie as their mystery person and to thank him for his contribution to our community. After communion they presented him with a thank you gift. A special thanks to Maestro Screen Printing, who donated some of the shirts for Charlie!

La Festa

Thanks to everyone who volunteered to help make La Festa a fun and successful event!
