Msgr. Bommarito will return to St. Ambrose this Friday.
What are Virtue Circles? Circles are a most important part of VBRD. We hold class circles at least twice a month where we pray, talk about the virtues we are studying, and/or issues that the class is working on as a group. In the last few weeks, the fourth and fifth grades have been talking about how to make the playground and the sports field a kinder place in some of their circles. In one circle, when asked to reflect on their own, one student said, “Reflection could mean something like a reflection in a mirror, but when you reflect, it is like your heart is a mirror and you are looking into yourself.” Sometimes we have circles with a small number of students who are having a conflict to try to work out our difficulties and repair any harm that has been done using virtues. Later on, a teacher will follow up with those students to see how things are going.
Koozies are on sale in the school office for $5.00.

Some fifth graders are really enjoying Challenge Math. They have been working together to solve some Math puzzlers and challenges from “Math Rules!” an enrichment challenge program. Here are some of their comments: “This is really hard, and I love hard stuff.” “I like this question, but it’s hard . . this is the fun part!”
Each family should have received a copy of a prayer and instructions on picking a virtue that your family will work on. This was attached to a piece of card stock for your use to write and decorate your family virtue and post somewhere in your home. We are eager to hear about your family’s experience doing this project. Please send us comments about it, pictures of your poster, and even a family selfie. You might see it here! If you did not receive this, check your child’s backpack or give us a call.
Your VBRD committee,
Registration for CYC basketball is now open for boys and girls in grades 3-8! Please take advantage of the lower fee of $30 per child and register now. This early fee will be offered through October 16th. After the 16 the fee goes up to $60 per child. Due to District deadlines, we have to close registration on Friday, October 23. So please don’t delay and register today!
We would also like to announce that Mike and Suzette Sestric have taken over the role of basketball director. They are currently working with the previous director to learn the ins and outs of the job. We are excited to have them as part of the Athletic Association and we are confident they will do great. Thank you Mike and Suzette!
Thank you to Mia Gordon who raised $32 for St. Ambrose by having a lemonade stand this summer!
